Big Sister could not offer the depth of programs and activities that we do without the generosity of our partners. Big Sister has partnered with a number of local corporations that allow employees to volunteer during the workday, as well as colleges which encourage their students to give back. In addition to our corporate partners, we collaborate with other social service organizations and affinity groups in order to further our work. It is these valuable partnerships which help us serve more than 2,600 girls annually. Corporate Partner of the Year, 2013 
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts has been an outstanding corporate partner and significant investor in Big Sister for more than a decade. Over the years, this relationship has strengthened not only with an increase in financial support, but with an expansion of employees who volunteer to become Big Sisters, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts employee and Big Sister, Elly Van Faasen. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts actively encourages employees to become Big Sisters, hosts recruitment events for Big Sister, and offers opportunities for professional development to Big Sisters by inviting them to networking events. Each contribution of $1,000 represents one Little Sister we can serve; and throughout our partnership, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts has sponsored nearly 500 Little Sisters. Senior leadership at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, including current Big Sister Board Member Tim O’Brien and past Big in Boston Event Chair Fredi Shonkoff, continually validate the work we do and inspire others to give. Most recently, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts partnered with Big Sister for their 2012 Blue Crew Service Day. Joined by our staff, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts employees spent the day volunteering at the Franklin Field housing development in Dorchester to improve and enhance the grounds, recreational facilities, and Family Resource Center.
